God Created YOU
“For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother’s womb.”
“I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made…”
“But now, O Lord, you are our Father; we are the clay and you are our potter; we are all the work of your hand.”
God creates, God created all things, and God created humanity. This is all good and this is all important, but how does it tie into encouraging you, specifically? Easy: God created you.
I don’t mean this in a nebulous way. “He created humanity and, by extension, created me.” I mean this in a specific and personal way: God created you.
Yes, He created Adam and Eve and they are the common ancestors of all humanity, past, present, and future. That was a mechanic that He not only designed but set in motion when He commanded them to “…be fruitful and multiply…” in Genesis 1:28.
However, God’s creation of humanity goes beyond some Rube Goldberg machine that He set in motion ages ago and has been letting it do its own thing since then. God is active in His creation and has an interest in it, otherwise He wouldn’t have sent Jesus down in an act of salvation!
Matthew 6:26 states that “Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?” God is paying attention to His creation, actively and intentionally, with the purpose of leading it to proper community with Him.
There was no mistake with your existence, you are a valuable member of the Kingdom and have a role to play as a steward of creation, a beloved child, and an image-bearer of the High King of Heaven.
Putting it in Practice: Spend some time today contemplating yourself through the lens that you were specifically and wonderfully made by the Lord. Work to set aside any disbelief, any self-hatred, any pride, or any arrogance. Start to realize that you are not some fluke of creation, and that God made you for a specific purpose!
